Radial Library

Radial Library focusses on the need for clarity in simplicity and community in openness. The library’s west facing wall slides back to reveal four open floors stepping down to meet the street level, looking out to a large parking area commonly used for local events. A café at ground level invites guests into the space through the large glass façade and angled interior walls make a funneled path to guide visitors into the large multipurpose room for indoor events. The angled walls continue up through the building, guiding visitors similarly on the second floor to the informational desk. At this point, where the extended lines of these walls would converge, the entire floor becomes visible as the structural walls open like pages of a book.
